The Bendix ESP System is an antilock braking system (ABS)-based stability technology that uses a series of sensors designed to continuously monitor vehicle parameters, including wheel speed, lateral acceleration, steering angle, brake pressure, and yaw rate. It helps to mitigate skids, slides, and loss of control through interventions such as dethrottling the engine and selectively applying the brakes. (Shown here is a school bus on a demonstration track with the stability system turned off. Outriggers are installed to keep the bus from rolling over.)
