Go Where the Bus Goes,  a new children’s book written by Lorraine Fletcher, a longtime school bus driver in Kentucky, addresses school bus safety.

The book employs a colorful cast of characters — Earl the Squirrel, Lily Bear and Luther Lake Trout among them — to promote the importance of following safety procedures on the bus. The story, brought to life by illustrator and bus driver C.J. Bloomer, follows Tom Turtle’s bus along a route through rural Kentucky as he teaches his riders about good behavior. Fletcher said that the goal of the book is to “help educate elementary school age students about bus safety in a fun, new way.” She added that she hopes to get the book into school bus safety programs across the country.

Proceeds from the first edition of the book will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Global Village 2015.
