GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A five-year-old boy here was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing the road to his school bus stop on Wednesday morning, WNEP reports.

The local coroner told the news source that Silus Hunsinger was crossing the road in front of his home when the pickup truck hit him. The bus had not arrived yet, and an adult was with him. The coroner added that Hunsinger died instantly from injuries sustained in the collision, and that his death was ruled as accidental.

Grief counselors have been brought in to Hunsinger's school to help his classmates deal with the tragic loss, according to WNEP.

State police are investigating the crash, and have not said whether the driver will face charges, the news source reports.
