EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Pupil Transportation Safety Institute (PTSI) is bringing a new full-time staff member on board.

Starting Dec. 27, David Christopher will manage the 19-A program and personnel for PTSI, develop training materials, and instruct as needed. (New York's Article 19-A sets forth special requirements for school bus drivers in the state.)

Christopher’s experience includes serving as a director of transportation and president of the New York Association for Pupil Transportation. He is based in the Albany, New York, area.

Kathleen Furneaux, executive director of PTSI, said that Christopher’s location will be advantageous for the nonprofit safety organization, which is headquartered in East Syracuse.

“His presence in the Albany area will give PTSI an enhanced ability to connect with New York state’s three primary transportation agencies, as well as maintain a strong relationship within DMV’s 19-A program for PTSI,” Furneaux said. “Dave’s comprehensive 19-A background as a certified examiner and experience in school transportation is a welcome addition to PTSI.”
