SOUTHLAKE, Texas — A new solar charger designed to extend battery life and increase power is now available.

The new 10-watt SP-10 Solar Pulse Solar Charger Maintainer from PulseTech Products Corp. aims to eliminate battery problems caused by buses and trucks that may not be in regular use, allowing sulfation crystals to form on the battery plates, which can prevent maximum power and shorten battery life.

The SP-10 can eliminate jump-starts, increasing battery power and extending battery life by three times by combining PulseTech’s patented, high-frequency Pulse Technology with microprocessor controlled intelligent charging algorithms to charge, condition, and maintain vehicle and equipment batteries, according to the company. Additionally, PulseTech created Pulse Technology to desulfate the battery plates and return the battery to a like-new state, capable of holding a full charge.

The SP-10 is designed to work with all types of 12-volt batteries, including conventional flooded, gel, AGM, and VRLA. It utilizes greater efficiency, higher quality monocrystalline cells that pack more power per square inch than standard “thin film” solar cell panels, according to PulseTech. The SP-10 is protected with a clear, polyurethane plastic coating mounted on a laminated aluminum, which can make it impervious to weather, aging, and damage from everyday knocks and bumps.

When mounted on a vehicle or equipment, the SP-10 can act as an automatic battery conditioning and charge or maintenance system. It comes with a five-year limited warranty.
