BALTIMORE — Gabriel Rose has been named the new director of pupil transportation at the Maryland State Department of Education.

Prior to being appointed to the position, Rose worked for the past three years as the school safety security specialist for Talbot County Public Schools in Easton, Maryland.

Rose has assisted in various aspects of transportation operations, including routing, field trip management, and bus discipline. He has also presented security training to school staff and has worked with local emergency responders in conducting drills and completing security audits.

Rose also has previous work experience in juvenile detention facilities, child support enforcement, and adolescent and adult addictions counseling.

As Maryland’s state director of pupil transportation, Rose replaces Leon Langley, who stepped down from the position in July to become assistant director of transportation for the state’s largest school district, Montgomery County Public Schools.
