SOUTH BEND, Ind. — In an effort to be more visible to students, the new superintendent for the local school district rode the bus with them on Wednesday, the first day of school, WNDU reports.

Spells also told WNDU that the first day of school is “always special. It’s kind of like our Super Bowl,” and added that he was “very excited” about his first day with the students at the district.
