SAN JOSE, Calif. — The West Valley Schools Transportation Agency has selected First Student to provide special-education bus transportation to students in the San Jose area.

A fleet of more than 50 school buses with new technology will begin to transport students when the new five-year contract begins in September. For the first time, buses in the transportation agency, which is composed of 11 school districts, will be equipped with GPS, providing the exact location and speed of the bus at any given time, according to First Student.

“We look forward to working closely with the West Valley Transportation Agency to provide the best start and finish to the school day for its students,” said Liz Sanchez, First Student senior vice president.

As part of its new partnership with First Student, the transportation agency will also have access to electronic routing, enabling the transportation agency to maximize route efficiencies.
