FLINT, Mich. — First Student employees at locations across Michigan have been working to collect, deliver, and distribute much-needed drinking water for Flint residents.

Flint residents have been unable to use the city’s water supply due to lead contamination. More than 3,000 students in Flint start and finish their school day on a First Student bus.

“We are proud to be able to use our resources to assist such an important cause,” said Doug Meek, First Student area general manager. “At First Student, we recognize the opportunity we have to make a difference in the lives of students extends beyond the school day. Our employees embrace the chance to give back to the communities where they live and work.”

First Student locations across Michigan have been helping collect bottled water or monetary donations to benefit Flint families. The 17 locations have been partnering with schools, businesses, and first responders. So far, First Student buses have delivered the equivalent of two tractor trailers — more than 10,000 bottles — of clean water to Flint, according to the company.
