ROME, N.Y. — School bus dealership Leonard Bus Sales recently donated a new injection pump to the outdoor power equipment class at Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES.
Current and future students will use the injection pump for hands-on engine troubleshooting, repair and training.
Class instructor Doug Pilbeam initially asked about borrowing some repair manuals for instructional purposes, but Leonard Bus Sales Service Manager Rob Frost and Parts Specialist Mike Piatkowski, both from the company’s Rome facility, said that they wanted to do more for the class.
Frost and Piatkowski are graduates of the program, and they considered it an invaluable part of their early vocational training. A brand new injection pump would be important for the students’ education, Frost and Piatkowski reasoned, which led to Leonard Bus Sales’ donation.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to help other mechanics-in-training and possibly even future Leonard Bus Sales team members,” Piatkowski said. “This class had a huge impact on my life and helped me begin my 15-year career as a mechanic. Rob and myself, along with the entire Leonard Bus Sales team, couldn’t be happier in making this donation — this is truly a great program.”
Leonard Bus Sales, headquartered in Deposit, New York, is a distributor of IC Bus and Trans Tech buses.
