YORK, Pa. — American Cooling Technology (ACT) has expanded its bus rooftop air-conditioning product line with the launch of the new RTS-275.

The RTS-275 rooftop a/c unit offers a cooling capacity of up to 75,000 Btu/hr. It is also available with optional heating coil units and can be supplied with a digital driver display with a/c system diagnostics. The RTS-275 is available with a 12-volt or 24-volt electrical system, as well as an option for ebm brushless motors.

Company officials said that the RTS-275 complements the existing ACT small and mid-size rooftop models, the RTS-75 and RTS-90, all of which can be used as a single a/c unit on small and mid-size buses and as dual units on full-size buses.

ACT reportedly developed the RTS-275 model by benchmarking existing similar rooftop units. Also, the company used market feedback from customers, who described what they like about their existing rooftop units and what improvements they would like to see in a new school bus rooftop unit.

The ACT RTS rooftop units are the result of more than three years of research, engineering analysis, testing and final component selection, company officials said. The units are now in full production at ACT’s manufacturing facility in York, Pennsylvania.
