ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) is joining the Autism Society in “The Big Give for Autism” today, Sept. 17.

The Big Give for Autism is an online advocacy and awareness campaign culminating today in the largest nationwide fundraising event held for autism.

An estimated 3.5 million people in the U.S. live with autism spectrum disorder. The Autism Society addresses the issues faced by people on the spectrum, advocates for appropriate services, and provides the latest information on treatment, education, research and advocacy.

Today, NSTA and others will promote The Big Give for Autism by using the hashtag "#AutismBigGive" on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Officials said that using the hashtag will create a larger audience for the campaign. Supporters are invited to share stories about autism to help raise awareness.

"NSTA is pleased to support The Big Give for Autism,” NSTA Executive Director Ronna Weber said. “It is our hope that this event will raise much-needed funds and provide a greater sense of awareness of this disorder."
