COQUITLAM, British Columbia — In October, Seon made a promise to donate a portion of the proceeds of every school bus camera system sold between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013, to anti-bullying education and awareness campaigns. On Wednesday, the company announced that those proceeds amount to a total donation of $25,000.

Seon will donate $5,000 of the proceeds to “The Bully Project,” the social action campaign that aims to stop bullying. Officials said that the contribution will support the campaign’s mission and inspire other people to start their own anti-bullying projects.

“We thank Seon for their generous donation and their efforts to create a world where bullying is no longer acceptable,” said Simeon Powers, director of finance of The Bully Project. “Buses can be one of the most susceptible areas to bullying, and Seon’s efforts have changed them to being a safer place.”

The remaining $20,000 will be distributed to school districts across North America that apply and are chosen for the Seon Anti-bullying Education Grant. School bus transportation directors or managers must apply for the grant by March 31, 2014, outlining their plan and specifying the amount of money needed to accomplish their anti-bullying education campaign (up to $3,000 per campaign request).

In addition to the grant, winners will receive The Bully Project’s educator’s DVD and toolkits to pass on from school to school within their district.

Seon will announce the winners and promote their unique stories and ideas throughout 2014. The supplier’s mission in distributing the grant money is to support different ideas and work with the school transportation community to put a stop to bullying.

“We commend Seon on their charitable donations to selected school districts across North America that apply for Seon anti-bullying education grants,” Powers said. “We look forward to continuing to work with them on finding new solutions to bullying problems.”
