SAN ANTONIO — Several school bus contractors were awarded $50,000 Zonar hardware grants at the National School Transportation Association (NSTA)’s Midwinter Meeting here on Monday.

Don Carnahan, Zonar’s vice president of business development in pupil transportation, presented the three grants to NSTA members Cook-Illinois Corp. of Oak Forest, Ill.; Sunrise Transportation Inc. of Chicago; and Acme Bus Corp., Baumann & Sons Buses Inc., of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.

"We are excited to again partner with Zonar on this grant opportunity and are pleased that it helps so many of our member contractors," NSTA President Tim Flood said. "This opportunity allows our members to access valuable tools to assist in their operations and keeps them at the forefront of the industry's best practices."

The $50,000 capital acquisition grants will outfit the contractors’ school buses with the component hardware parts needed to procure the benefits of Zonar's technology systems.

The grant was exclusive to NSTA private school bus contracting members. For membership information, go to www.yellowbuses.org. Additional questions can be sent to Travis Pryor at TPryor@yellowbuses.org.
