While this is very good news for the manufacturers it still is far beyond what the number should be to have a reasonable life expectancy for the equipment. On a 12 year life we would need to see 42-45,000 units a year to eventually bring down the aged fleet most school districts have allowed to happen some say due to budget cuts. There are ways to improve your fleet age and at STA we have some very innovated ways and working with districts to do just that. Partner together. Today's busesa re safer, stronger, have better technology and lower operating costs. States like SC and others are missing out on the chance to make a significant dent in their aged fleets by continuing to operate in the same old fashion way.
