First Student has donated $5,000 to sponsor the Wichita (Kan.) Public Schools golf tournament.

The annual fundraiser supports the school system’s Educational Edge Program, a nonprofit that raises funds for athletics, fine arts, and project grants for classrooms and teachers within the district.

“We are thrilled to be able to make a donation that supports the schools in our community and the students we transport every day,” said John Billigmeier, First Student senior location manager. “For many, these are our children, our schools and our community, and we embrace this opportunity to give back as a company.”

James McNiece, event organizer, Darren Muci, director of division operations for the school system, and Billigmeier presented the donation at a recent Wichita Public Schools board of education meeting.
