CLEVELAND, Mo. — Apple Bus Co. has acquired Mid America Transportation, a move that the company said will build its presence in Kansas City, Mo., and surrounding areas.

The acquisition will also provide additional support for school districts already partnered with Apple Bus.

Mid America Transportation is a privately owned company based in Lexington, Mo. It provides services for 20 Missouri school contracts, has approximately 120 school buses and nearly 125 employees.

The acquisition includes all of Mid America Transportation’s business, with the exception of Lexington R-V School District.

District and school customers whose business was transferred to Apple Bus Co. include:

•    Cowgill R-VI
•    Henry County R-I
•    Hope Leadership Academy
•    Leesville R-IX
•    Lone Jack C-6
•    Luray #33
•    Montrose R-XIV
•    New York R-IV
•    Orrick R-XI
•    Osceola Public Schools
•    Polo R-VII
•    Ralls County R-II
•    Seneca R-VII
•    University of Central Missouri
•    Wellington-Napoleon R-IX
•    West Platte County R-II
 
Apple Bus will begin providing transportation services for these operations beginning with the 2013-14 school year.

As previously reported, the company also recently won a three-year contract with FirstLine Schools.
