FLAT ROCK, Mich. — A bus driver for the local school system lost both of her legs following an accident last week at the bus depot, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Police told the news outlet that the victim, who was not named, was helping another driver plug a bus into the battery charging system. The driver was trying to move the bus closer to the plug when the bus accelerated uncontrolled, hitting the victim.

Police and fire units responding to the accident found the victim with severe trauma to her lower extremities, and she was transported to a medical center in Trenton, where she had to have both of her legs amputated above the knee.
