LOW PASS, Ore. — A school bus driver is being praised for her actions to protect her passengers in a near-accident here last week, KMTR reports.

The bus stopped on a two-lane highway for students to disembark at the side of the road. As driver Pam Alley was waiting for the students to cross, she noticed a log truck coming down the highway from behind the bus, and it didn’t appear to be slowing down.

Alley and parents waiting nearby motioned for the students to cross the road faster. Once the kids cleared the road, Alley swerved to the left as the log truck driver veered off the road to the right. The truck missed the school bus by inches, according to KMTR. No one was injured in the incident, but parents told the news source that their children could have been seriously injured or killed were it not for Alley's quick thinking.
