Frank Shicatano recently announced his retirement from Wolfington Body Co. after 55 years with the company.

Wolfington Body Co. is a distributor of school and commercial buses. Shicatano joined Wolfington in June 1957 after working as a trainee for Silverman’s Carpets. Harry Wolfington, owner and president at the time, hired Shicatano as a clerk typist.

In the position, Shicatano typed bus, hearse and ambulance orders for Superior Coach Corp.; he also typed letters and filed paperwork.

After about five years with the company, Harry Wolfington asked Shicatano if he would like to sell school buses. At 23 years old, officials said it was initially difficult for Shicatano to talk to prospective customers and gain their trust, but he persevered and became one of the most successful salespeople at Wolfington.

Richard Wolfington, who is Harry Wolfington’s son and current company president, said of Shicatano, “Frank has sold school buses to three generations of school bus contractors and school district transportation departments throughout Pennsylvania. His contribution [to] and support of student transportation is unprecedented in the industry.”

Richard Wolfington went on to say that the company has been fortunate to have a “partner like Frank, and the success of Wolfington Body Co. can be directly translated to the ability and professionalism of men like him.”

For his part, Shicatano said that the 55 years has gone by quickly.

“The best thing [about] being with Wolfington was they took me into their family and [treated] me with respect and patience while I learned the bus business,” he added. “I would like to thank the entire Wolfington family. I have had a magnificent career at Wolfington Body Co., and a lot of fun.”
