DANVILLE, Vt. — A Vermont State Police officer shot a man on a school bus Tuesday after the man allegedly made bomb threats over the bus’ radio and said he had a gun, according to a story on NECN.com.

Police said that William Mahoney took a car without permission, crashed it after drinking alcohol and broke into a home. When the homeowner confronted Mahoney, he reportedly fled to a nearby school and broke into a bus to hide out.

Officers who responded to the scene said Mahoney reached for a holster on his hip in a threatening manner. An officer fired his service weapon five times, striking Mahoney once.
