TEMECULA, Calif. — The cost of annual bus passes for the local school district here has increased from $520 to $550 per student, the Temecula Patch reports.
Temecula Valley Unified School District's board was considering the move in June, as previously reported.
Lori Ordway-Peck, assistant superintendent of business services, told the Temecula Patch that the district raised the fees because the state severely underfunds Temecula's transportation due to a technicality of the stipulations under which the district was incorporated. The district offers other options besides an annual round-trip bus fee, including payments per month, per semester or one-way rides.
