SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — A school bus returning from a competition was destroyed Saturday after one of its rear tires blew on the highway and caught fire, which eventually spread to the rest of the bus.

Officials said that when firefighters arrived, the bus was completely engulfed in flames. The firefighters were able to contain the fire to the bus and keep it from spreading into the surrounding vegetation.

All 55 passengers and the bus driver were able to safely evacuate the bus, and no injuries were reported.
