ALBANY, N.Y. — A security consultant who has worked with school districts for nearly a decade is scheduled to present during the upcoming National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) Summit.

Bret E. Brooks is a senior consultant with a private firm, Gray Ram Tactical LLC, who has worked in the security and safety fields since 1998.

Brooks formerly served in the U.S. Army as a military police captain. He is also a former SWAT team member and full-time police officer.

In addition, Brooks is a member of the International Counter Terrorism Officers Association, where he serves as the Missouri state coordinator. He is also a contributing editor for SWAT Digest Magazine as part of the International Tactical Officers Training Association, and member of the International Association of Counter-Terrorism and Security Professionals.

Brooks has been a guest speaker at numerous conferences and has presented web seminar training programs for NAPT. He has also been invited to be a guest speaker at European school conferences to speak on violence-related issues.

Brooks has written several articles on this topic for SBF, including "Violent Students: Contributing Factors," "Nonverbal Indicators of Violence: What to Look For" and "Verbal Indicators of Violence."
