BRUCE, Wis. — A driver for Bruce Public Schools pulled the door of her bus closed as a speeding car approached the stopped bus and passed it on the right shoulder of the road, the Chippewa Falls News Bureau reports.

Officials said that bus driver Kimberly Lincoln’s actions saved the lives of the students who were preparing to exit the bus. Michael R. Malone passed the bus on the right side while its flashing lights and stop arm were engaged. He then struck a mailbox and continued southward.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department apprehended Malone on a dead-end road, where he was passed out in his car. He was arrested for his 11th drunken driving offense.
