WARRENDALE, Pa. — SAE International will hold an online symposium next month designed to help those involved in the school bus industry learn about alternative-fuel options.
The 2012 "School Bus Powertrain Innovation Symposium: Reducing Fuel and Maintenance Costs Using Propane, Compressed Natural Gas and Hybrid Electric Technology" will be held March 19-22.
The free program is intended to help student transportation personnel learn about current and innovative alternative-fuel options from school bus OEMs. It will include supplier and peer-to-peer presentations, panel discussions and technology exhibits. The symposium also includes a grant writing workshop.
According to the organization, the program can help attendees make properly informed decisions about the pros and cons of converting their buses to hybrid-electric, propane or compressed natural gas technology.
