MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Voith Turbo Inc. and Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. are continuing with an agreement regarding automatic transmission fluid used with Voith DIWA automatic transmissions in fleets operated within the U.S. and Canada.

Following the success of the original extended warranty program first introduced in October 2007, Voith and Petro-Canada are extending the program for an additional three years.

Under the program, when using Petro-Canada’s Heavy Duty Synthetic Blend Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) in new deliveries of Voith DIWA transmissions (models .3E and .5), the transmission’s base warranty coverage is extended from 24 months/150,000 miles to 30 months/150,000 miles — whichever comes first.

The extension is contingent on the condition that upon initial delivery of the transmission from the respective bus OEM, the operator installs Petro-Canada’s Heavy Duty Synthetic Blend ATF in advance of the pre-delivery inspection and continues to operate the transmission during the base warranty coverage period using the specified Petro-Canada Heavy Duty Synthetic Blend ATF.

The use of Petro-Canada’s ATF also allows Voith customers the option to purchase a 5-year/300,000-mile 100 percent parts and labor warranty at a discount.

This is also contingent on the condition that upon initial delivery of the transmission from the respective bus OEM, the operator installs Petro-Canada’s Heavy Duty Synthetic Blend ATF in advance of the pre-delivery inspection and then continues to operate the transmission during the warranty period using the specified Petro-Canada fluid.

Petro-Canada’s ATF is specially formulated for commercial and heavy-duty transmission systems, and it is designed for severe service applications. Officials said that it delivers outstanding thermal and oxidative stability, extended drain intervals, stable friction properties and excellent wear protection.

Petro-Canada’s Heavy Duty Synthetic Blend ATF is listed on Voith Turbo’s approved fluid list for DIWA transmissions (DSB 13R/DSB 118B) in North America.
