AUBURN, Calif. — InterMotive has introduced a new two-speed road speed limiter to its Speed Sentinel product line that will allow two different maximum speeds to be programmed for a vehicle using one module.

Both settings can be set between 7 mph and 80 mph in single mph increments. Unlike OEM option codes, Speed Sentinel is not affected by OEM re-flashes of the ECM.

Using a key switch, the Speed Sentinel can limit the vehicle to 55 mph if the key is on (driver mode), and otherwise limit the vehicle to 70 mph when the key is off (management mode).

Speeding reduces fuel economy — approximately 7 percent for every 5 mph over 60 mph, according to the company — and it also triples the chance of an accident.
