WEST CHESTER, Pa. — One family business becomes part of another family business in Krapf School Bus Inc.’s acquisition of Hash Bus Co. LP.

“The Hash family has been in the business for 50 years, so selling our company was very emotional for us,” Barbara Hash said. “Our drivers are a part of our extended family, and we wanted to look out for their best interest.”

The transaction, which was initiated and negotiated by Sun Mergers & Acquisitions LLC on behalf of New Park, Pa.-based Hash Bus, was officially completed on Wednesday night.

“John Polli from Sun Mergers & Acquisitions helped us throughout, and we appreciate his commitment to our family and goals,” Hash added. “Selling to the Krapf organization was like joining another family.”

Krapf, established nearly 70 years ago, operates more than 1,000 vehicles to serve eight public school districts as well as more than 150 private and parochial schools on a daily basis. The company, based in West Chester, is the largest private school bus contractor in Pennsylvania. It has a complementary motorcoach, executive coach, town car and limousine charter division.

“Barbara Hash was especially happy to be able to sell to the Krapf organization, a family business like hers that shares similar values and approaches to both customers and employees,” said Blake Krapf, president of Krapf School Bus. “We welcome the entire Hash staff to our growing family tree and are excited to get to know and service their community.”

Sun Mergers & Acquisitions has acted as the exclusive financial advisor for other school bus contractor transactions, including Student Transportation Inc.’s recent acquisition of Ridge Road Express Inc. and related companies.
