ROSEVILLE, Mich. — The mother of a 9-year-old boy said her son was hospitalized after he was kicked on his school bus by an older student who has special needs.

Jermayne Bibbs sustained bruising and scratches to his face and several lumps on the back of his head, according to an article on ClickOnDetroit.com. Bibbs' mother, Aashahla Al-Ali, told the news source that she wants the boy removed from her son's bus because he is a bully.

However, school officials reportedly told Al-Ali that the other student could not be removed from the bus because he has special needs. She said that she will drive her son to school as often as she can to prevent further bullying.

The school is investigating the incidents reported by Al-Ali. The district's superintendent said that a special-needs student who demonstrates violent behavior toward others will be re-tested, and then the school will proceed from there, the news source reports.
