GILLETTE, Wyo. — Students who attend an elementary school here got a festive surprise last week: a visit from Santa Claus.

The Gillette News-Record reports that during the last four years, visits from Santa are something that children who ride on driver Jerry Whorley’s route have come to expect. During the week before Christmas break, the bus arrives for its afternoon pickups with Santa either behind the wheel or in one of the bus’ first seats.

Last week, students had an opportunity to share their Christmas wishes with Santa, and they also got a present from him as they exited the bus. According to the newspaper, the small, wrapped packages were provided by Helping Hands Helping Families, the nonprofit organization that Whorley and his wife, Mona, run.
