HARTSDALE, N.Y. — Greenburgh Central School District No. 7’s board of education has scheduled a referendum for Dec. 13 on a proposal to change the district’s transportation policy.
The referendum will ask voters for authorization to shorten distance limits for students to be eligible for school bus transportation. If approved, the proposal would reduce the limits from 0.5 miles to 0.2 miles for students in grades 6 and lower, and from 1 mile to 0.5 miles for students in grades 7 to 12.
If it is approved, the change would cost an additional $361,986, which would be taken from the 2010-11 operating budget as well as an undesignated fund balance.
The referendum will be held at Woodlands High School gym from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
