SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Department of Education (DOE) will offer a two-day Transporting Children with Special Needs Conference here and in and Fresno County next summer.

Topics scheduled to be covered during the conference include understanding the special-education process, confidentiality and the special-education student, public and community relations/mandated reporting, behavior management, proper securement of wheelchairs and their occupants, special-education evacuation, and special-education policies and best practices.

State certified instructors, behind-the-wheel trainers, transportation administrators and supervisors, dispatchers, as well as anyone with a direct connection to special-needs transportation are invited to attend the conference.

It will be held at the state DOE Office of Student Transportation facility June 22-23, 2011, and in Fresno County June 28-29, 2011. The registration fee is $150 per person. For more information, call (916) 375-7100.
