HIGH POINT, N.C. — Thomas Built Buses is working on a new propane-fueled school bus to add to its line of alternative-fuel options.

A company spokesperson confirmed that the bus is in the works and is targeted to be launched in 2012.

The Propane Education & Research Council is providing support to Thomas Built in the development of the bus.

The manufacturer currently offers a hybrid diesel-electric Type C school bus, the Saf-T-Liner C2. And compressed natural gas is a fuel option for the Saf-T-Liner HDX Type D.
