LAUREL, Miss. — After an accident in which a kindergartner was struck and killed by a passing motorist, Jones County School District's transportation department has developed two new safety programs for students and parents, the Laurel Leader-Call reports.

The "My Brother's Keeper" program is designed to train older brothers and sisters to help escort their younger siblings during street crossings when loading and unloading.
