SANTA ANA, Calif. — American Logistics Co. LLC (ALC) will continue to serve Carlsbad (Calif.) Unified School District (CUSD) through 2011 — the district recently extended its contract with the transportation management company.

ALC has been providing turnkey transportation services for CUSD special-needs students since 2007. The company has transported an average of 130 students per day using three buses and 37 vans.

“ALC has become a valued business partner that we can count on to remain sensitive to our budgetary concerns, while providing an outstanding level of service,” said Walter Freeman, assistant superintendent of business services for CUSD. “We are grateful to them for providing us with transportation services that, over the past three years, have saved upwards of 40 percent annually, which has, in turn, enabled us to preserve jobs.”

In addition to the cost savings, service levels have also been improved, with on-time performance exceeding 98 percent, the company said.

With ALC’s proprietary trip optimization technology, ParaMax, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), the company seeks to reduce costs and improve service for the districts it serves. Through ParaMax, ALC seeks to decrease school transportation costs by analyzing data provided by the district to “right size” each vehicle and trip.

ITS helps clients to achieve high performance metrics, the company said.
