LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Pupil transportation professionals will soon convene here for the 35th Annual NAPT Summit and Trade Show, to be held Oct. 31 through Nov. 5.

This year’s speakers include former U.S. Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne and John Musso, executive director of the Association of School Business Officials International. Attorney and consultant Peggy Burns and mountaineer and author Jeff Evans will also address attendees.

The summit will include a panel discussion on cutting costs, opportunities to get involved with the National Congress on School Transportation, and NAPT’s Professional Development and leadership courses.

Incoming NAPT President Linda Bluth will lead multiple sessions this year. The first, titled “Lessons from an Expert Witness — Avoiding the Avoidable,” will give attendees an insider’s perspective on how expert witnesses approach a case. In another session, Bluth will discuss the civil rights of students with disabilities.

Other workshops during the summit will cover handling insurance claims, driver training and evaluation systems, digital two-way radio, bullying, and child passenger safety restraint systems.

Representatives from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Transportation Security Administration will also be on hand to address attendees.

Among the special events, Thomas Built Buses will host an NFL Night, and IC Bus will host the conference closer.

The complete summit agenda is now available online at www.napt.org.
