CINCINNATI — First Student Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide student transportation for the Avon (N.Y.) Central School District.

The contract, which will begin on July 1, includes the operation, maintenance and management of a fleet of 15 district-owned vehicles.

“First Student brings a number of advantages to each school district we serve,” said David Duke, senior vice president of sales. “In addition to safe, reliable, sustainable transportation services, First Student can offer cost savings that allow administrators to reallocate tax dollars into the classroom.”

Moreover, First Student has been awarded a contract to provide student transportation services for the Merced County (Calif.) Office of Education. This contract will also commence on July 1.

The contract is a five-year agreement that includes the operation, maintenance and management of a fleet serving 86 routes.

All school buses in First Student’s fleet will have high-definition GPS tracking systems installed by 2010.
