Thomas Built Back to School Photo Contest returns

The bus manufacturer invites parents to submit a photo of their child that best represents the back to school season through Sept. 15. The top five winners will each receive a $2,000 donation for their child’s school.

Thomas Built Buses extends warranty coverage

The school bus manufacturer’s Saf-T-Liner C2 base warranty will provide three-year or 50,000-mile coverage, up from one year, for units built on or after Oct. 1. Also, Thomas Built’s standard body and chassis paint warranty will be extended from three years to five years.

The dealership's new location in North Salt Lake, Utah, is three times larger than its previous location. The new facility includes six service bays, a wash bay, a parts sales and storage department, sales and administrative offices, and a training/conference room that is available for use by customers and their staff.
8.0L PIthon engine to power Thomas Built propane bus

National Express donates bus to community empowerment center

Thomas Built, Zonar to offer telematics solution

The school bus OEM will partner with Zonar Systems to provide factory-installed telematics features for Saf-T-Liner C2 models as standard equipment. The Zonar platform will have the ability to send and receive data from the engine as well as give insight on overall vehicle performance, driver behavior and monitoring of passengers through Thomas Built’s multiplex wiring system.

Missouri district ‘goes green’ with CNG buses

Parkway School District in Chesterfield is taking delivery of 30 Saf-T-Liner HDX compressed natural gas Thomas Built buses, with nine in service since the beginning of February. The district is also building a CNG fueling station on-site.

Merryman, who died on Saturday at age 89, launched his school bus business in 1967 when Thomas Built Buses was looking for a new dealer in Virginia. Today, Sonny Merryman Inc. has three locations and more than 125 employees in the state.
Thomas Built to launch CNG-powered Type A school bus

The manufacturer is now starting pilot production of a compressed natural gas (CNG) Minotour, with official production slated to start in the first quarter of 2014. The CNG model will utilize a GM 6-liter engine on the 4500 series cutaway chassis.
