Bill would set penalties for operating poorly maintained buses

New Connecticut legislation would establish fines for school bus companies if they fail to abide by state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) inspection orders, and impose a fine of up to $2,500 on operations that transport students and file false statements with the DMV regarding maintenance, repair or use of a school bus.
Durham fleet achieves 100-percent inspection rating

Illinois district to receive $60K in Zonar equipment

Freeport School District #145 was selected to receive a grant to fund more than $60,000 worth of Zonar Systems equipment to outfit the district's entire school bus fleet. The grant was awarded through a partnership with the National Association for Pupil Transportation.
UPDATE: Michigan school bus inspection program to continue

Gov. Jennifer Granholm has directed the state Legislature to appropriate the money necessary to allow the police department to perform its school bus inspections and certifications. In the meantime, the department must identify resources within its budget to fund inspections.
