Carter Machinery Co. joins Blue Bird dealer network

Carter Machinery already supports more than 45 school districts, and Blue Bird officials say the company will provide a high level of support to its customers through its network of eight on-highway repair facilities.

Georgia drivers participate in safety competition with propane buses

More than 60 drivers from around the state competed in the roadeo hosted by Georgia’s Pupil Transportation Safety Competition Foundation, where they navigated obstacle courses and challenges and completed a written examination. Blue Bird Propane-Powered Vision school buses were provided by Hall County Schools and Appling County Schools.
Arizona district adds 61 Blue Bird propane buses to fleet

Mesa Public Schools has purchased 55 Blue Bird Propane-Powered Vision school buses and six wheelchair accessible buses to increase its propane bus total to 89. The district, which has a goal of operating the nation’s first all-propane yellow bus fleet, expects to save $4.43 million in operating costs over a five-year period.

The manufacturer submitted the G5 lift bus for a 7-year/200,000-mile STURAA test (Surface Transportation and Uniform Relocation Assistance Act of 1987) last fall, and testing was completed in February. The unit was tested on maintainability, reliability, safety, performance, structural integrity, fuel economy, noise and emissions.

Officials say Blue Bird provides over $70 million in annual salaries and taxes, in addition to purchases of materials and utilities from Georgia-based suppliers, generating an additional $30 million in economic impact.

First Blue Bird redesigned All Americans delivered in Georgia

Ten of the manufacturer's 2014 All American buses are delivered on Wednesday to the state’s Department of Corrections, where officials say they will be placed into service immediately, replacing buses in the existing fleet that have each accumulated over 300,000 miles. The buses can seat 50 passengers, and they feature pass-through luggage compartments and interior storage bins.

Blue Bird, Redflex partner to curb stop-arm running

Under the agreement, officials say the Redflex Student Guardian stop-arm camera system is available from all Blue Bird dealers throughout North America. The Student Guardian system monitors and automatically detects drivers who illegally pass school buses while students are loading and unloading.
