Q. How is the VW settlement money related to NOx?

A $2.9 billion Environmental Mitigation Trust from the Volkswagen emissions settlement will be used to fund transportation projects that specifically reduce NOx emissions. Each state has a set amount between $8 million to $400 million, depending on the number of originally affected VW vehicles. Eligible projects include class 4-8 school buses.

School districts could have access to this funding to replace aging diesel school buses with models fueled by propane autogas, which is naturally lower in NOx.
