i believe its got trans air i dont no how to post pictures on here its square or i should say rectanglular has two threaded ports on either side it looks just like an old dodge caravan expansion vavle i was gonna try one of them but not sure if it opened under the same pressures
Here is a couple of numbers you can look at. They are 4 Seasons brand. #38901 and #39396. There are a number of variations on these, so make sure you get the correct valve.
We have several Thomas Minotours built on 2002 Chevrolet G3500 Express chassis's with the 6.5L Diesel. They use a Carrier 14-00397-00 2-ton Expansion Valve. If I'm not mistaken, Carrier was bought out by MCC, Mobile Climate Control. We get ours from Thermo King of Chatanooga.
I will add, it may be different depending on who installed the A/C on the bus. There are several companies. I would suggest calling your Thomas dealer and see if they can tell you who installed it unless your department took possession of the bus and then had the A/C installed yourselves.
I have found the following cross references: MCC (Carrier) - 14-00397-00 ACT - 180594 AirSource - 1601
it is actually a carrier system i am gonna use those numbers and see what i can come up with i did get a 4 seasons 38901 it looks right it fit in and the ac works fine now but again i am sure with all the different part numbers the mostly all look the same but the pressure has to be different will have to do more research but the 38901 is workin fine just gonna research to make sure it is the right one
From what I find, the 38901 is 1.5 ton. I'm not smart enough to know if that will make a difference. We have a few expansion valves that physically look the same, same configuration and port sizes, and I was told by our A/C consultant that the tonnage rating is the difference.
there where some numbers i gave them to the part store and they said that doesnt help them i threw it out so far the 38901 is working but would like to find out if it is the correct one
