Yes, the engine decided to blow a rod through the side of the block. School is looking at replacing it with a reconditioned Cummins turn-key, or long block. Question is: what kind of equipment would the shop need to replace the engine. We have just basic cherry picker and tranny jack meant for car and truck engines. We do have access to a fork lift and have a cart with an old Detroit Diesel pusher engine sitting on it with flat tires. LOL! The BB is a 2007 All American.

I have pulled engines and transmissions together with an automotive cherry picker at one end and a heavy duty transmission jack under the transmission at the other end. Roll them out together and pull them apart once they are out. It's worked well for me. You will need a fairly smooth floor for this to work. Otherwise, you could build a stand to use with the fork lift to pick it up from the bottom of the engine. At my old job, I built one that went along side the the oil pan and rested on where the pan bolts to the block. It worked fine too. I would leave the transmission if you do it this way.
