I'd suggest finding someone with an IDS for diag. 6.0's are famous for underlying issues that don't show up until another issue is repaired. Tell your friend to be prepared.

Gotta check FICM voltage. If I remember right, it has to be at 48 volts on the Fords. anything else, and it will run like crap. I'd also do an injector pop test and see if they all pass.

Sounds like a faulty injector at this point but would do compression check make sure you don't have a dead hole , would be best to put on a scantool injector buzz and relative compression test would be first checks for me . Could like eddo said be ficm issue but injector and comp, test with scanner would be my first go to .

Correct, 48V MINIMUM.

Did you mean a buzz test with the IDS?

Loving the "Friends don't let friends buy 6.0/vt365"...might have to get a bumper sticker made up!

Best line ever seen on an online auction for a CE with a 365: "If you are not in the school bus business, or don't know what a VT365 is, DO NOT bid on this bus."

My cousin bought an F350 several years ago against my repeated warnings. Worked out GREAT for him.

I feel I should clarify that by "GREAT" I mean he's now tens of thousands of dollars in debt and the truck is long gone.

Very, very, VERY much so!

He put those performance chips and other nonsense on the truck as soon as he got it home. Maybe he will listen next time.

IF you fix whats wrong with them they are a good engine and make good power, but it's going to cost you $3K-$5K. The Bullet Proof stuff is great. Studs aren't needed unless you want to go crazy on the HP.
