Can I use the heads from a 98 444e on a 2002 444e? All about cutting costs and we have a scrapper that has good heads with a bad body and an 02 with a cracked head that's still in great shape. Identical except for the year and the 02 has an air compressor (looks like the Comp bracket will align with holes on the 98 head). Was hoping to get some answers before tearing the scrapper apart. |

I think you should be able to. Perhaps you could just do a complete swap from one bus to the other? Not really sure of your situation, but something to think about. |

My understanding is that this is possible, I've never done it, though. :)
I'm with aaron though- I'd consider a whole engine swap. :) |

If swapping motor make sure you don't mix and match non compatible components, I am thinking the 2002 is a single control box engine, has the improved exhaust manifold to turbo piping, a waste gated turbo, single connectors at each rocker cover gasket and split shot injectors. Depending on when the 98's engine was built it may or may not be so equipped. |
Why yes, the ORIGinal CHARGER is a Fastback |

Just taking heads off the scrapper and putting them on the good bus. Whole engine swap wouldn't work. Components aren't QUITE the same, but the heads are. On that note... anyone ever snap a screw extractor off inside an exhaust manifold bolt? Grrrrrrrr! |

More the once Knucklebuster. Invest in some "left hand" drill bits. |

Wish that would've been an option. Bolt was snapped off flush, then the easy out snapped, then my left-handed drill bit snapped inside the easy-out. Was a cuss-word filled afternoon. |

Eddo are you saying that the day you had to do that job would NOT have been the day to take the Kindergarten class on a tour of the bus garage??? |
