i have this bluebird vision with a 6.7 cummins engine it smokes really bad and the anitfreeze is milky dothese motors have removable cylinders withe the orings on the like the ic dt just wondering if i have a head gasket problem or if it has those cylinder orings
oil cooler should put oil in collant resivor. They have freeze plugs inside the head under valve cover. thats where mine had issues at. you will still have to pull head to fix if thats the problem its not a bad job. If u dont have cummins quick serve i would recommend signing up for it. Its free, you put your engine serial number in and it brings up servic manulas and parts brake down.
oil cooler should or shouldnt put oil in the resivor? is there a way to check the freeze plugs or do i just have to pull the head off i dohave quick serve just havent had to use it havent had any problems with the cummins motors yet so not sure if its an oil cooleror head problem and if u have seen a freeze plug problem how did u determine it was that did u just take head off ?
sorry oilcooler will put oil in collant. I pulled head off took to machine shop to be checked. they said freeze plugs was very common problem for the 6.7s at around 100k miles. they said the took pocket screwdriver and just touched frreze plugs and they crumbled.
you could drain oil remove valve cover and clean all the leftover sludge out put cooling system under presure see if u can see any leaks. i dont think you can check oil cooler other than by visual inspection, and if your going to remove it might as well replace it. I think there only about $100
What year is this bus? I had a similar issue with one of my 2010 pre-DEF C2’s and it was just a freeze plug. If you search “2008 Vision Cummins 6.7 coolant loss” on this board there is additional info on this topic. I guess they switched to stainless plugs on the newer stuff.
its an 09 no def are u talking about the same freeze plugs mwood is talkin about on the underside of head where as I have to remove the head to inspect?
You can see them by pulling valve coover after u get all the nasty oil out of the way. theyre kinda hid under the rocker assemblies but should be able to reach them with screwdriver.
