I have a 2004 FE 300 with a DT 466 E engine . We recently replaced the starter with a Delco 39 MT . I have never liked the way it turns over . Well that starter went south . I got another under warranty and it too turns slower than I like . Hard to build up oil pressure with a slow starter . Is there one that will really turn over that big engine ? Most of my other buses really sound fast .I have 3 batteries with over 900 cranking amps in each and all my cables look good . Thanks

I wonder how these work;

or

Why yes, the ORIGinal CHARGER is a Fastback

I have installed the Denso starters... They work great! First one I used was on an 02-03 DT....I think they last longer hold up better than the Delcos do ..and with the gear reduction seem to spin engine faster...

I have them installed on 7 buses and working good!

I am a big fan of the Denso starters. They work great, and don't way a ton.
I have a couple on some 7.3L's and DT466E's.

The only issue I have, is I can't get them local in my city, I have to get them out of my Phoenix shop.

I have had to modify some ground straps to get them installed, as they are a shorter starter, but that is totally worth it.

We have been using Denso starters on DT466's for about 10 years now. The MT's were eating up flywheel ring gears all the time. We had to modify the early units as they had NO grounding lug, but Denso improved that many years ago. It has been a very cost effective move for us. I don't have the PN at the moment but we get them from our local AC Delco wholesaler.
