We have several buses that have problems with gauge clusters working off and on. Is there a solution to the problem without replacing the whole circuit board? What have some of you guys done to fix this issue?

Ive repaired most all of ours. The connector on the back of the cluster needs the pins resoldered where they come through the board. They get small cracks in the solder joint and just need to be remelted and they will be good after that. It takes about half an hour to do the job .

I've been doing the same solder repairs as well for years. It sure beats $400 for the cluster.

It will the green connector, center circuit board. Hopefully it is not plastic coated as they are hard to repair. 2587521C3 CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AFTER 11/97 IH BUS DT466E $317.12.
that's our current price if you have to replace. may find it cheaper. (IC description) Part Number 2587521C3 Description BOARD, QSP DLINK, CENTER PCB

Sam,

Not sure about yours but over the last year with the replacement cluster the old bulbs won't fit in the new cluster, so you have to order new bulbs too.

Agree with what MasterTech said. Simple job. Beats the heck out of wasted money.
