Just noticed on the International Truck website that the MaxxForce DT has been dropped as an available engine in new trucks.

They oughta just give it up when it comes to bus engines. Too many enemies made over the last few years, it'll be hard to regain that trust especially since the Cummins engines have been pretty good.

Like it says in the amtram RE advertisement "all your troubles are behind you".............about 30 feet.

Of course we had to go and buy some Thomas Re's . They are proving just as unreliable and poorly designed as the IH ones.

They used to say the same thing about Detroit Diesel long before all the merges and buyouts, the old oil slobbering 53,71 and 92 series engines ,also the wonderful 8.2 engine.... then (with the help of John Deere engineers)they came up with a reliable engine in the 60 series on the class 8 truck side...brought back alot of customers....
I can't really give a testimoial for any of their engines since the merge with Mercedes and who ever else is involved now... but have personally seen how durable that 60 series was... Also IMO Cummins has always been able to produce some good engines, and They have had their share of poor ones also... Triple nickle V-8 is one that comes to mind.
You would think IH would be able to produce a good light truck engine again someday.... be it with the help of other companies...IDK... As it stands now they might want to look seriously at that...if their not already...

Good points, but I still think it'll be a tough sell. People in the school bus world are pretty bad about holding grudges.

Glad I'm not the one who has to go kiss rear-end to try to get back into guys' fleets!
